World Chinese Language Conference 2025: Chinese part of national education in 86 countries

An article by China Education Daily, published on the Ministry of Education website on 17 November 2025, reports that the 2025 World Chinese Language Conference was held in Beijing from 14 to 16 November with nearly 5,000 participants from more than 160 countries and regions.

• Chinese has been included in the national education systems of 86 countries.
• Cumulative learners and users of Chinese exceed 200 million.
• The Chinese Bridge competitions have involved more than 1.8 million young people from over 160 countries and regions.

Note that cumulative learners and users differ from the number currently studying Chinese.
